Macra na Feirme

Macra na Feirme is a national organisation made up of many clubs throughout each county of Ireland. The organisation aims to support the development and well-being of rural communities and young people by providing a social outlet and opportunities for personal development and also representing their interests in National Policies affecting our rural youth. Founded on March 15, 1947.

Callan Macra is a diverse club, taking part in a wide variety of Macra competitions. Throughout our 72 years as a club, Callan Macra has been known for their participation and prowess in all things sport, entertainment and speaking!

On a yearly basis, our club members take part in sporting endeavours (Bowling, Gaelic Football, Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, Hurling, Tag Rugby and Badminton), while also finding time to entertain themselves and others with Variety Shows, Ballad Groups and Drama Productions. Recently, our members have made huge progress in the areas of public speaking, debating and Agriculture, winning titles in Farm Skills, Know Your Ag Quiz, and Young Farmer of the Year to name but a few. Whatever your interest is, in Callan Macra there’s something for everyone!

Our club is a standout star for its strong membership. With nearly 90 members, we are one of the largest Macra clubs in the country. We are one of the very few Macra clubs in Ireland with our own premises, which gives us a strong sense of identity within the community.

We are also hugely involved in community endeavours, and regularly commit to local fundraisers, including:
– Tractor Runs for Callan CBS Immersion Project
– Carol Singing for Camphill
– Visiting and entertaining the residents of Mount Carmel Nursing Home with our tunes!
