History Lecture: The Rescue of the Fenian Prisoners from Western Australia

There will be a history lecture entitled “The Rescue of the Fenian Prisoners from Western Australia in 1876” By Niamh Hassett on Friday 5th of April at 7.30pm.

This follows the hugely popular history lecture by Niamh Hasset Conscience and Conspiracy in Callan (The Civil War in Callan) in March 2023.

“The Rescue of the Fenian Prisoners from Western Australia in 1876” lecture is the very gripping story of how the Fenians in the United States bought a whaling boat and sailed it halfway around the world to rescue 6 Fenian prisoners who were serving life sentences in Fremantle Jail in Western Australia. It was a top secret mission and was carried out with amazing competence and courage.
